Recycling Waste to Make Quality Outdoor Gear

The Dyrt team were blown-away by Mountain Designs sustainable gear at this summer’s Outdoor Retailer market.

Mountain Designs is focused on reusing waste in order to reduce our impact on the planet.

For instance they use Seawool, an eco-conscious fabric is made from oyster shells from the food industry ground to powder then mixed with plastic pellets made from recycled PET plastic bottles. The end result: a fabric soft to the touch, quick-drying, and that naturally stops odor-causing bacteria from growing on the fabric.

Another innovative fabric from Mountain Designs is their MD ECO down. With ethically sourced 600-fill power duck down (70%) blended with recycled coffee bean fiber (30%), this down fill is just as effective but has less of an impact on the planet.
